The goal
You see a grid of 16 words. Hidden among them are four groups of four words that share a common link. Your job is to find all four groups.
Select four words you think belong together and press Submit. If you are right, the group is revealed with its category and removed from the grid. If not, you lose one of your four mistakes.
What the colours mean
Each group has a colour that shows how hard it is. Yellow is the most straightforward, green and blue are trickier, and purple is usually wordplay: hidden words, words that complete a phrase, or sounds.
In Expert mode there is a fifth, orange group, the hardest of all. The Large and Giant boards have six and nine groups, and there the extra colours only tell the groups apart.
One away
If three of the four words you chose belong to the same group, you will see “One away…”. That is a strong clue: swap one word and try again.
The game also remembers your guesses, so you will never lose a mistake by submitting the same four words twice.
Winning and losing
Find all groups before you run out of mistakes and you win. If you make four mistakes, the remaining groups are revealed so you can see the links you missed.
When you finish, you can share a colourful result grid that shows the order of your guesses without giving away the words.
Hints
Stuck? The Hint button reveals the name of the easiest group you have not found yet. Hints are optional and are shown in your shared result with a light bulb.
